The Hospice and Supported Care Inpatient Area has six beds which aim to improve the quality of life for people with life limiting conditions, and to address problems such as pain management and symptom control.
The palliative care beds are in single rooms which provide a relaxed and comfortable environment. Four of the rooms are equipped with private en-suite facilities, and all have comfortable armchairs and Freeview equipped televisions.
The Area also contains two NHS Supported Care beds in a large double room. The Area is located on the first floor of the Hospital and may be reached by entering through the main entrance of the Hospital and then following the signs up the main stairs to the first floor. A lift is also available.
The Unit has a multi-disciplinary team which includes NHS nursing staff, social workers, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, community nurses and Macmillan nurses.
We have a chaplain who visits weekly or we are happy to contact your own minister, priest or faith or belief group leader for you.
Volunteers play a part in the life of the Hospice by complementing the nursing staff. Their duties include manning the reception desk, making tea and coffee for patients and visitors alike.
If called upon, the Patient Car Transport service can take patients to other hospitals for appointments and treatments.
Overnight facilities and quiet rooms are available for families and friends to stay close to their loved one during their stay in the Inpatient Area. We offer tea, coffee and biscuits to visitors. Family or friends staying overnight or for long periods can be offered a light breakfast and snacks throughout the day. We are happy for relatives to bring in their own food or have food delivered if they wish to remain with their relative at all times.
A No Smoking Policy applies throughout the hospital and in its grounds.
