Annual Driver's Get Together

The Annual Get Together of Cowal Hospice Volunteer Drivers took place at The Braes on Saturday, 3rd November. This being the 25th year that Cowal Hospice was registered as a Charity, it was fitting to celebrate with a cake made by local resident Rachael Brown with one of the longest serving Volunteer Drivers Ron Gay doing the honours of cutting the cake. To acknowledge her selfless 21 years as a volunteer at Cowal Hospice, hospice secretary Andrea Lauffer was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Trustee Dick Walsh. The CHATS Day Centre is formally reopened

In his opening remarks to members of the public and guests who were attending the launch of Cowal Hospice and Therapy Services in the newly refurbished Hospice Day Centre, Councillor Dick Walsh said that, as the longest standing of the Board of Trustees, he remembered how the original ambition to create a fully functioning hospice could not be sustained due to the costs involved. He went on to say that eventually a partnership emerged with the NHS leading to the Cowal Hospice and Supported Care inpatient unit. However, some 4 to 5 years ago as the delivery of palliative care in the community was rethought, the old Hospice area was redeveloped into the new CHATS…
The shop has moved to its new location

On Friday 27th February, the long awaited move to our new premises commenced. With the help of R&R Removals and a number of the shop and other volunteers, everthing was moved over the weekend. Needless to say, chaos reigned in the new shop but that was brought under control very quickly by the Shop Coordinator Louise Drummond and her band of helpers. Our shop reopened for business on 9th March. The new shop is located at 130 Argyll Street, Dunoon PA23 7NA.

The local branch of Global Customer Experience Management company Webhelp UK have chosen the Trust as their primary charity for 2015. They have donated 4 Lafuma chairs to the CHATS Day Centre for use in the Yoga and Relaxation room. Lafuma chairs are widely used in healthcare by therapists who need their clients in a highly relaxed state. The Trust would very much like to thank WebHelp for this initial donation. The local Webhelp UK customer location centre is located in Sandbank Industrial Estate.

Our shop is moving to a new location up Argyll Street in March

Due to the imminent commencement of the refurbishment of the Queens Hall, Argyll & Bute Council have given us notice to quit our existing shop premises under the Queens Hall. Accordingly, we would like to announce that the Shop will be moving in March to the Hallmark Shop at 130 Argyll Street.
The Hospice Day Centre re-opens after a 6 month long refurbishment

Following a 6 month refurbishment, the Trust is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Day Services Unit in January 2015. Over the coming months, existing services will be fully re-established and new services will be introduced.
